In 1988 CHANE was given $150 for graduating high school... Inadvertently, this became the initial investment to a dream that would eventually brew a monstrous empire of once impossibilities. As of 1992, this idea had become the beginning ingredient to a dream that would never lose adrenaline. Formerly branded as ACCEDE RETRO WEAR, this ultimately became the lines that many of you know of today as CHANE MODSUSHI & PROJECT CHANE.
While struggling through college, the CHANE lines would become a source for inspiration as well as a way to eat.
A chain of events brought him to a major decision at the time of his college graduation from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1993… the decision to leave everything familiar and run away to NEW YORK CITY ultimately won. CHANE literally took off to NYC with absolutely nothing (everything he owned had been stolen a week before in his college house. The decision to go to NYC seemed to be more of an omen. $300, no place to live, a head full of hope and wonder set a stage for dreaming that would never see an end.
As NYC would have it, CHANE lived on a couch in a basement loft apartment on the upper west side. Life became about working 3 jobs to survive... on numerous occasions, CHANE would resort to asking for money in the subway. Eventually, with a head full of ideas and the reality of knowing that he could not afford to begin a T-shirt production in the city, he moved to Pensacola Beach Florida... just a few short years later, CHANE opened his first true showroom of his T-shirt designs, as well as skateboard shop and screenprint shop.
65 roommates, 10 cities, 9 catalogs, many stores, a Disney movie, and a few pissed off girlfriends later, CHANE is wondering somewhere at this moment, "How the hell did all of this happen?" His desire to be a sly wit in a world full of pretenders created his mantra "LIVE FAST DREAM FOREVER." The rest is the future as it all continues to unfold this very second... demand a happy oblivion as you seek liberation above and beyond everything the rest of the world told you, you could never do... EXIT WONDERING.
